- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 cup grated cheese (e.g., mozzarella or cheddar)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- Optional: Spices or herbs of choice (e.g., paprika, oregano, or rosemary)
Instructions
- Mix the almond flour, grated cheese, egg, baking powder, and salt in a bowl until a homogeneous mixture forms.
- Form small balls of dough about the size of a golf ball, then flatten slightly to make discs about 1–1.5 cm thick.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and add oil. Once hot, place the flat Arepas in the pan.
- Fry for 4–5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the Arepas from the pan and allow them to cool slightly before filling.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
You can prepare Arepas in advance and freeze them. Just fry frozen Arepas for 5 minutes on each side to heat through.
